Join us as a NI Fitter/Improver. We are recruiting for a NI Fitter to join our team based out of the Addlestone Office, covering the South East London region. The successful candidate will measure and set out lift/escalator installations in accordance with approved procedures, comply with statutory regulations and safety requirements, and ensure preparation of the work area and handover/confirmation of installation completion. If you are working in construction or the lift industry with electrical or mechanical qualifications but have not completed NVQ3, you are encouraged to apply for the Improver role. Certification as a fitter is advantageous, but experience is valued.
This is a full-time and permanent role.
What You'll Be Doing
* Installing lift/escalator Well and Ancillary Equipment in accordance with approved procedures, selecting appropriate tools and equipment based on the operation and equipment installed
* Installing Traction Equipment, including siting, assembly, fitting, alignment, and adjustment of lift/escalator equipment
* Installing Lift Ropes (traction media) and adjusting in accordance with procedures; installing suspension, safety, and governor ropes on new or reconstructed equipment
* Installing Lift Doors and Frames (manual and power-operated; various door types) and safety devices for new or reconstructed equipment
* Checking and Setting the Lift/escalator Installation, including final checks and adjustments prior to final test and commissioning
* Carrying out site surveys
* Maintaining communication with the supervisor regarding progress, hours worked, and any non-compliance
* Engaging with customers and supervisors to ensure customer needs are met
* Attending relevant training sessions
* Carrying out all work in line with the Company’s Quality Corporate policy
* Working in accordance with the Company’s Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with UK law and Schindler safety requirements, and modelling safe behaviour
* Contributing to safety objectives, including maintaining current safety systems and implementing changes where applicable
What We're Looking For
* NVQ Level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator Installation or equivalent, or mechanically/electrically qualified and willing to work toward NVQ
* Valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card
* Advanced product and installation knowledge/experience
* Proven fault finding and diagnostic skills
* Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
* Ability to work independently with a flexible approach
* Good communication skills at different levels (Client/Installation Managers/SAIS Inspectors)
* Good punctuality
* Manual dexterity for lifting and using tools; ability to record written information
* Full UK driving license
