Job Overview
MRO Mechanical Technician – Boeing Defence United Kingdom Limited. The role supports major UK programmes such as Apache, Chinook, C-17, P-8A and E7 Wedgetail within the Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) organisation of BDUK. The technician works as part of a team to ensure accurate maintenance records, process adherence, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
* Conduct assigned maintenance tasks in accordance with Approved Technical Data and authorized personnel certifications.
* Ensure tasks are completed to Boeing’s own MAA MRP Part 145 approval or the Mod customer’s approval.
* Control and sequence individual workloads to meet schedule milestones and maintain first‑time quality.
* Perform aircraft maintenance activities, assembly, disassembly, modification or repair of systems, structures, electronics and components.
* Upgrade aerospace components to correct failures or implement changes.
* Diagnose complex aircraft systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical/electronic) and repair faulty components following authorised maintenance documents.
* Provide guidance, mentoring and oversight to apprentices and trainees, exercising 100% oversight where directed.
* Escalate emerging risks, issues and shortfalls and mitigate immediate risks, including stop‑work decisions.
* Contribute to continuous improvement workshops and reporting culture.
* Be flexible with work locations and times to deliver aircraft on schedule.
Basic Qualifications
* Fluent written and spoken English.
Preferred Skills
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to distribute and sequence technical work.
* Strong workload control while delivering high standards and maintaining schedule.
* Ability to interpret technical documents, drawings and associated publications.
* Knowledge of MAA Regulatory Articles (RA), MAA Regulatory Publication (MRP) Part 145, aviation Quality Assurance (QA) and Safety Management System (SMS).
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
* Recognised relevant trade apprenticeship or equivalent trade training.
* Knowledge of general aircraft maintenance processes (Human Factors, FOD control, tool control, health & safety & COSHH).
* Experience in commercial or defence environments.
* Proficient computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite.
* Effective team member skills.
