Overview
PlayStation Studios Creative Arts - Music is looking for a Senior Music Designer. The Senior Music Designer will handle music editing, technical implementation, and music production support for the Creative Arts Music team, working with Sony’s global game development partners and marketing teams. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in music production, audio middleware, and game development workflows, with a focus on audio and music implementation throughout the production process.
Responsibilities
* Music System Design: Owns the music system design and technical execution plan at the project level and influences overall project strategy for the music system design.
* Music Editing: Edits and creates assets that align with the music system design.
* Music Implementation: Helps define music implementation strategies across a project. Can drive the entire music pre-mix to PlayStation Studios quality standards. Presents new and innovative implementation solutions to music design team stakeholders.
* Asset Management: Consolidates time estimates and drives overarching asset lists for the project. Communicates music vision/asset needs to the team and external partners. Provides direction and review feedback for externally developed assets based on music design vision. Trains and mentors junior music designers on asset management.
* Tools & Technical Proficiency: Works across PlayStation Studios to share technologies and tools. Drives overall music performance goals and collaborates with studio leadership to decide upon best tools/systems.
* Communication: Shares knowledge across projects, coordinates within the music team, and presents to product leadership and music teams regularly.
* Recording & Production: Plans and manages entire recording sessions. Delivers assets recorded for the project for archiving or sharing across PlayStation Studios. Mentors junior team members in planning and budget processes. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of microphone theory and industry-standard recording techniques and equipment.
* Process & Planning: Drives milestone planning, task estimation, scheduling, and asset list maintenance. Works with project leads to create cue requirement lists. Builds positive relationships with external partners and negotiates priorities and design requirements when needed.
Education & Experience
* Excellent knowledge of commonly used interactive audio tools and digital audio workstations, particularly Wwise and Pro Tools.
* Thorough understanding of techniques for implementing game audio and the associated technical demands.
* Minimum of two years industry experience in video game music production with at least one published title.
* Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience/skillset.

* Comprehensive understanding of project schedules and milestone documentation.
* Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, attention to detail, and multitasking ability.
* Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Google Sheets, Microsoft Office, and bug-tracking databases.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with outstanding interpersonal and facilitation skills.
Industry
* Knowledgeable of current industry trends and up-to-date on competitive products and standard methodologies.
* Passionate about games and dedicated to creating them.
