Thesecurity team respond to reports across our sites, providing vital support toour staff to ensure all areas are kept safe, so our teams can deliverexcellent care to our patients.

Youllhelp to ensure our estates are locked and secure, respond to fire calls andsupport in resolving conflict between different individuals. As such, youwill provide a calm and reassuring presence to staff, visitors and patientsat all times.

Main duties of the job

Successfulcandidates will work alongside our award-winning Security team across avariety of locations in Leeds.

Thisis a challenging but rewarding role protecting staff, visitors and patientsas well as property. Responding to fire calls, locking and unlocking dutiesand assisting to resolve disputes between individuals in a calm andprofessional manner.

Thisis a demanding and physical role and there is a requirement to wear bodyarmour at all times when on duty

Job responsibilities

Thepost holder is member of the Estates operational team and will be responsiblefor carrying out any duties commensurate with the grade of post. The role includes provision of security andtraffic management, across any of the Trust sites or sites where the Trustdelivers services from. The rolerequires flexibility in approach to the duties required as these may alterthroughout the course of a work day/week.High standards of quality will be expected to be delivered in linewith Estates/LTHT practices and policies.

Thepost holder will be expected to have basic knowledge of a number ofadministrative and operational functions and utilise both E&F and LTHT ITsystems in order to complete their job role.The nature of the role requires the use of responding to some tasksvia a defined communication system.

Adheringto standards and practices in Trust Policy and Estates practices/proceduralmanuals alongside national initiatives, to ensure that a safe and secureenvironment is provided for patients.

Tobe a point of contact for patients and other visitors to the Trust andprovide a warm friendly welcome offering protection, support andassistance.

Teammembers will be expected to operate as part of the Estates team covering anyTrust managed service within the region.

4. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OFRESPONSIBILITY

Tomaintain vehicles in good working order and use it to maximum efficiency.Reporting faults and breakdowns immediately to the FacilitiesSupervisor. At the start of each shiftcarry out the appropriate vehicle checks and complete the vehicle recordlogs.

Carryout car parking duties to ensure the effective management of traffic acrossthe sites. This will include issuingparking violation notices and managing traffic flow

Dealwith Lost and Found property in accordance with the Trust Policy which willinclude maintaining the property register, ensuring the safe storage andreturn of lost property and the disposal of unclaimed property.

Providecash handling and escort duties to the Cashiers.

Carryout lock up duties as required.

Carryout initial investigations, take statements and provide written reports withregard to breaches of security, incidents, thefts, damage and majortraffic/access problems.

Challengeindividuals in restricted areas who do not have identification and members ofstaff not wearing ID badges.

Assistwith the issue of keys to staff.

Assistin promoting initiatives for tackling violence and aggression against staffand health care professionals within the Trust (Work without Fear / Report toSupport), through innovation, education, prevention and detection routes,along with close working relationships with the Police and other externalagencies.

Ensurean PPE provided is clean, not damaged and is worn as necessary for the role.

Ensurethat all duties are carried out in line with quality control procedures usingstandard relevant documentation.

Toensure that the correct uniform and PPE is worn at all times whilst on duty.

Providea professional, effective and competent operational security service to theTrust to ensure a safe and secure environment for staff, patients, visitorsand Trust assets.

Provideadvice to patients, relatives, other staff relating to security/safety ofothers in a conflict situation

Analysesecurity incidents and make suitable judgement when assessing potentialconflict situations

Toprovide appropriate response to any alarm upon activation i.e. fire alarms,including directions for responding teams.

Thegood housekeeping of the hospital/work environment and equipmentinternally/externally related to the specific job role using approved methodsand equipment/mechanical aids to national/Trust standards to ensure that aprofessional image is maintained at all times.

Operationand minor maintenance of all equipment necessary for the role to be used incompliance with standard operating procedures

Toundertake the duties of any of the specific job role ensuring that all theprocedures, correct practices are adhered resulting in excellent patientsatisfaction.

Ensuringall communications are responded to in an efficient/timely manner.

Tofollow all local method statements & risk assessments to ensure that therole is undertaken in a safe, secure manner.

Acton feedback given from any quality assurance system

Communicationwith allied health professionals/trust staff members to ensure that thepatients health and wellbeing is being maintained in helping to deliverexcellent clinical outcomes.

Toreport any faults/issues/complaints regarding service provision or equipmentimmediately to the supervisor or other appropriate senior Trust staff member

Tocomplete and record role specific data/information either electronically orin written format that is required complying with operational procedures orlocal/Trust/National policy and audit recommendations/controls.

Toprovide a warm profession welcome and supportive communication to patientsand visitors to the Trust, providing an efficient and courteous service.

Useand maintain any role specific databases/hardware/software, in accordancewith departmental guidelines.

Toensure that requests for information are dealt with in an efficient andtimely manner.

Thetransportation of patients and/or goods/equipment as determined by thedepartment within the region.

Carryout patrols using the Blue-Sky patrol system and keep updated any associatedelectronic app that records Blue-Sky Patrols

Maintainand use the Security Officers PDA for electronically recording the outcome oftasks and incident reporting

Maintaincurrency in training for Mental Capacity Act, DoLs learning disability andautism, delirium, dementia and other illnesses that cause challengingbehaviours

Maintainthe Security Industries Association Door Supervisor License

CompleteUse of Force documentation after any restraint of any individual

Operateand maintain Body Worn Cameras

Monitorand maintain the Hospital with regards to being smokefree and challenge thosethat ignore the smokefree status

Carryout the following traffic duties

Multi-Storey and surface car parks

Parking payment systems

Vehicle enforcement

Cash handling and payment systems

Thejob may require other duties to be carried out as may reasonably be requestedby line management commensurate with the grade of the post.


Person Specification


Experience

* Similar experience in a similar role.
* Hospital Security experience.


Qualifications

* Valid SIA Door Supervisor Badge
* Valid SIA CCTV Badge


Skills and Behaviours

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good level of physical fitness and the ability to de-escalate difficult situations.
* Good report writing skills and an understanding of electronic devices to receive and accept tasks.
