Health & Safety Assistant
Are you a proactive Health & Safety professional looking to take the next step in your career? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading UK manufacturing business at an exciting time of growth and innovation.
We’re supporting a well‑established, global organisation to recruit a Health & Safety Assistant for their large integrated site in Leicester. With sustainability, continuous improvement and people development at the heart of their culture, this business is known for producing household‑name products found in supermarkets nationwide.
Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, you’ll play a key role in driving safety initiatives, supporting colleagues across two local sites, and contributing to a positive, proactive safety culture.
No two days are the same in this fast‑paced environment, and this role is fully site‑based due to the nature of the operation.
What you’ll be doing
* Supporting the development and implementation of best practice H&S policies, procedures and regulatory compliance.
* Ensuring staff receive appropriate H&S training to carry out their roles safely and effectively.
* Producing reports, data and insights for the H&S Manager.
* Collaborating with teams across the site to deliver proactive safety initiatives.
* Liaising with internal stakeholders and external bodies on H&S matters.
* Taking part in weekly production meetings to align on site priorities and targets.
* Reviewing, adapting and implementing risk assessments across the operation.
* Assessing machinery compliance and recommending improvements where required.
* Identifying gaps in training and SSOW, ensuring corrective action is taken.
* Delivering safety‑related training sessions.
* Providing hands‑on support during internal and external audits.
What you’ll need
* Knowledge of OHSAS 18001 and experience with ISO 45001
* Experience supporting internal and external audits
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and problem‑solve
* Confident using IT systems such as SAP and Microsoft Office
* Previous experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally with exposure to both administrative and operational environments
This position would particularly suit someone who has gained H&S experience in a busy environment and is ready for a more hands‑on, fast‑paced operational role.
Given the current workload and recent team changes, we’re looking for someone confident, motivated and able to hit the ground running.
What’s on offer
* Salary sacrifice pension scheme
* Employee Assistance Programme
* 23 days annual leave + bank holidays
Location: Leicester, England, United Kingdom
If you’re ready to play a key role in shaping and embedding strong Health & Safety standards within a major UK manufacturer, we’d love to hear from you.
