An exciting opportunity has arisen within our service for an enthusiastic, flexible and motivated Theatre Sister / Charge Nurse to lead on Trauma and Orthopaedic services and join our friendly, dynamic, hard‑working theatre team.
Our theatre suite has 7 theatres and 1 recovery unit. The specialities include robotics, orthopaedics/trauma, gynaecology, urology, general/vascular and ophthalmic. This department has 24‑hour theatre provision including obstetrics.
You will be fully supported in your role by the Theatre Sisters and the General Manager for Theatres. A commitment to participate in shift work is essential.
You will be responsible for the effective and efficient operational management of the department/ward, including budget control, clinical governance and staff development.
Expected to provide professional leadership within the clinical area and give direction and inspirational leadership to all members of the multi‑disciplinary team within your area of accountability.
You will be involved in the development of guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Lead the development of Urology and Colorectal surgery and the implementation of policies, procedures and standards of care relating to the service.
* Support key working relationships with all members of the multi‑professional team, including Nursing and Medical staff, Allied Health Professionals and Support Workers.
* Be responsible and accountable, within the multi‑professional team, for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of the specialist nursing care for patients undergoing Urology and Colorectal surgery.
* Assess, plan and implement patient treatment to provide holistic care in coordination with the lead clinician, working across specialisms (surgery and anaesthesia) to deliver holistic care to individual patients.
The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services, including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
