NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Pharmacy Services Preparative Services are seeking an enthusiastic Band 2 Clerical Officer to join the pharmacy team at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.
The Beatson Pharmacy department is housed in the West of Scotland Cancer Centre and is responsible for providing oral and intravenous chemotherapy to a large outpatient population both in the north of Glasgow and the West of Scotland.
The Main Duties Of This Post Are
* Reception duties: You will be responsible for identifying, locating, checking for authorisation, printing, prioritising and if appropriate handing prescriptions out to patients. Prescriptions can be handwritten, electronic or Clinical Trial prescriptions. The Beatson WoSCC provides regional cancer services, and our pharmacy department can be very busy with patients bringing in prescriptions to be dispensed and/or collecting medicines that have already been dispensed. Patients also regularly enquire about the status of their prescriptions and dispensed medicines.
* Community supply service: You will be required to check Chemocare for prescriptions that have been authorised by a pharmacist and perform a transcription check to ensure that the dose on Chemocare prescription matches the dose on FP1O prescription before scanning, e‑mailing and posting out to the relevant community pharmacy. A high level of accuracy is essential when performing this task.
* Hospital transport delivery service: You will be required to schedule delivery of prescriptions/dispensed medicines and liaise with the hospital transport team. You will use Trackcare to confirm patients home addresses and phone numbers are accurate and update excel spreadsheets.
It is essential for the post holder to have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You must be able to follow Standard Operating Procedures, local policies and protocols at all times whilst working under pressure. You must be able to work as part of a team and independently and be able to organise and prioritise your own workload. You will need to use your own initiative in this post. Keyboard skills will preferably include Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word and knowledge or previous experience of using Chemocare and Trackcare patient systems is desirable. Previous experience of reception duties is also desirable however full training will be provided.
A typical working week is 37 hours, Monday to Friday 08.45-17.00 (16.30 on a Friday) and includes public holidays.
