The Role – Sound Testing Engineer (with Air Tightness Training)
As a Sound Testing Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out on‑site sound insulation testing across residential and commercial developments. You will also have the opportunity to train into air tightness testing (ATTMA), expanding your technical skillset within the building performance sector.
This is a site‑based role covering North London, London and the Home Counties, offering varied projects and excellent career development.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct sound insulation testing in accordance with UK building regulations (Part E)
* Carry out testing on new build residential and commercial properties
* Produce accurate, detailed sound testing reports
* Work closely with site teams, developers and contractors
* Ensure compliance with all acoustic and building performance standards
* Maintain and calibrate testing equipment
* Train and develop into air tightness testing (ATTMA standards)
* Manage multiple projects across London and surrounding areas
Requirements
* Experience as a Sound Testing Engineer / Acoustic Tester
* Ideally 2+ years’ experience in sound insulation testing
* Knowledge of UK building regulations and compliance standards
* Strong interest in developing into air tightness testing
* Excellent communication and client-facing skills
* Full UK driving licence (essential)
* Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Desirable Skills
* ATTMA qualification or experience in air tightness testing
* Experience working within the built environment / construction sector
* Understanding of wider environmental or compliance testing
