Overview

We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), which is part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals. The ECU Manager will lead the strategic direction for financial investigations in line with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). This role requires proactive leadership, with a strong focus on continual improvement and enhancing how we work.


Responsibilities

* Provide strong leadership to two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer; motivate and develop the team and manage performance and delivery.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC); influence at senior levels to align external enforcement priorities with EA priorities.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes and understanding of POCA, share lessons learned, contribute to changes in technical documentation, and advise enforcement officers nationwide.
* Be involved in the team structure: Economic Crime Unit comprises the Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigations Team; teams include Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts; operate as a nationally dispersed unit.


Experience/Skills Required

* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience in leading a dispersed team; good understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Experience in:
o Working in the law enforcement sector and understanding the National Intelligence Model
o Effective communication including delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders
o Working under pressure and prioritising a varied workload
o Identifying areas for improvement and leading changes to working practices
o Developing and enhancing the capability of a team and the individuals within it


Other information

* This is a hybrid working role; you’ll work from home and your nearest office; there will be travel across the country for meetings and operational duties. Incident response is a central part of the role; you may be required to have an incident role and be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident (may attract additional payment). Training and workplace adjustments will be available.
