Project Engineer – Packaging

You’ll work with people at every level — from operators to engineering SMEs — bringing alignment and momentum to complex projects.
You’ll bring technical understanding, commercial awareness and delivery focus — and turn business needs into real project outcomes through suppliers, contractors and partners.
About the role
1. Lead the planning, execution and delivery of capital projects across packaging, process and utility systems
2. Willingness and drive to lead a culture of safety throughout project delivery, from design, implementation and across the lifecycle of industrial assets
3. Deliver packaging and process upgrades that improve safety, speed, efficiency and sustainability
4. Manage contractors, OEM partners and engineering suppliers to deliver safely and effectively
5. Own CapEx investment delivery (including >£1M projects), ensuring safety, cost, schedule and quality targets are met
6. Drive continuous improvement and embed best-practice project delivery methods
7. Ensure compliance with relevant construction safety regulations and site safety standards (e.g. UK-CDM)

8. Projects delivered safely, on time & to budget
9. Strong relationships with suppliers and site teams
10. Issues anticipated early and resolved through influence, not escalation
11. Standard ways of working adopted and sustained
About you
12. Experience delivering engineering or manufacturing projects end-to-end
13. Relevant Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Chemical, CE&I) or HND/HNC with Experience (CEng desirable)
14. A recognised project management qualification (PMI, APM, PRINCE2 etc.) & Safety (NEBOSH Certificate)
15. Experience in similar industrial environment & managing engineering projects
16. Experience in use of Microsoft 365 suite & Project Management software (MS Project preferred)
17. A problem solver who’s confident leading workstreams and bringing people with them.
