Senior clinical fellow in specialist rehabilitation

Expected Starting Date: 01st November 2025 until 31st October 2026 (Contract extensions to be mutually agreed by both parties)

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow, aimed at trainees wanting a career in specialist rehabilitation at the Centre for Specialist Spinal and Neuro Rehabilitation, University Hospital of Llandough.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Clinical Fellow to join the multidisciplinary team, helping to deliver high quality, compassionate care to adult patients requiring spinal and neuro rehabilitation.


Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity within a busy regional service, with the postholder expected to provide ward cover Monday to Friday 9-5 on the Specialist Neuro Ward (with cover for the spinal ward where required) and running of weekly specialist outpatient clinics. The successful postholder will also have the opportunity to be involved in service evaluation and quality improvement projects.

There is no on call with this role.

Person Specification


Qualifications

Essential

* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
* MRCP

Desirable

* Intercalated Degree
* MSc or PhD
* Academic Excellence (prizes, merits, distinctions etc)


Experience

Essential

* Specialist experience in clinical neurology
* Experience of research in a clinical environment

Desirable

* Experience in Specialist Rehabilitation


Skills

Essential

* Evidence of effective team and multidisciplinary working
* Effective and demonstrable communication skills in written and spoken English
* Counselling and communication skills
* Effective IT (computer) skills
* Self-motivated and flexible approach to work
* Values aligned to those of the Health Board


Clinical Governance

Essential

* Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice
* Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance
* Evidence of proactive engagement with appraisal and revalidation


Research

Essential

* Evidence of active research interests

Desirable

* Evidence of initiating, completing and writing up research projects with track record of publication


Teaching

Essential

* Evidence of teaching medical/dental students and junior doctors/dentists

Desirable

* Organisation of (undergraduate and / or postgraduate) teaching programmes


Management

* Commitment to participating in and understanding of the management process
