Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Children's Learning Disability Nurse to join our experienced multi-disciplinary team.
You will work with children and young people aged 0-18 who have a diagnosed learning disability and may present with additional needs such as:
* Autism spectrum conditions
* Communication difficulties
* Challenging behaviours
* Sensory processing differences
* Mental health concerns
* Physical health needs
The role involves family-centred care, working closely with parents/carers, education providers, social care and other health professionals to promote positive outcomes and reduce health inequalities.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake holistic assessments and contribute to multi-agency care planning
* Deliver evidence-based interventions to support emotional wellbeing, behaviour and physical health
* Provide specialist advice and training to families, schools and other professionals
* Support safeguarding processes and contribute to risk assessments
* Promote health education and preventative care
* Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
* Maintain accurate clinical records using electronic systems (Rio)
Qualifications and Experience
* Registered Nurse (Child or Learning Disability) with current NMC registration
* Part 5 or 14 of NMC register
* 2–3 years' experience as registered nurse or equivalent
* Experience working with children and young people with learning disabilities
* Experience working in community setting
* Experience working with children and young people who have learning disabilities and/or autism
* Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Commitment to inclusive, trauma-informed and family-centred practice
* Ability to travel independently across the service
