Are you a skilled, hands-on tradesperson looking for a role where no two days are the same?Maintenance Officer Salary: £25,887 - £27,385 per annum (dependent on experience) Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week Contract: Permanent Location: Roving role - Sites across the North East (& Occasionally Cumbria)About usGroundwork North East & Cumbria is an established environmental and community charity with over 30 years experience supporting communities to improve their local areas and create better opportunities for people. We deliver hundreds of locally led projects each year, including initiatives that improve local environments, support young people and adults into education, training and employment, and promote health and wellbeingWe manage a range of buildings and community sites across the region, and were committed to keeping them safe, well-maintained and fit for purpose.About the roleWere looking for an experienced Maintenance Officer to take pride in looking after our buildings and sites. This is a practical, varied role where youll use your skills to carry out day-to-day repairs, maintenance and compliance checks across multiple locations.Job PurposeSupported by our Facilities & Maintenance team, youll be trusted to manage your own workload, solve problems on the spot, and keep our sites running smoothly making a real difference to the people who use them.Where Youll WorkYoull travel between our sites across the North East, with occasional visits to Cumbria.

Our locations include offices, a Business Centre and a Visitor Centre. Youll be out and about most days rather than office-based. A company van is provided.What Youll Be DoingCarrying out general building maintenance (e.g.

basic joinery, plumbing, decorating, repairs)Handling reactive repairs and fixing issues quickly and safelyCompleting planned maintenance tasks and routine inspectionsCarrying out health & safety and compliance checksLiaising with and overseeing specialist contractors when neededKeeping clear records of work carried out using basic IT systemsWhat Were Looking ForThis role would suit someone from a trade background (e.g. joinery, plumbing, general building maintenance or similar) who enjoys practical, hands-on work:Proven experience in building maintenance or a relevant tradeAble to turn your hand to a wide range of repair and maintenance tasksGood working knowledge of health and safety on sitePractical problem-solver who can work independently and use initiativeOrganised and able to manage your own workload across multiple sitesFriendly and approachable comfortable working around staff and site usersA reliable, can-do attitude with pride in your workEssential:Full UK driving licenceWillingness to travel regularly across the North East (and occasionally Cumbria)Why Join Us?Varied, hands-on role with real autonomySupportive and friendly team environmentOpportunity to use and develop your skills across different sitesA role where you can see the impact of your work every dayClosing Date: Tuesday 30th June 2026.
