Experience: Previous experience within a quality restaurant is essential

As Assistant General Manager at Canal, you'll be a key part of the leadership team, working closely with the General Manager to create an exceptional waterside dining experience where creativity, community, and hospitality meet.
Your role will include:
Orchestrate daily operations across our waterside restaurant, terrace, and upstairs lounge, ensuring exceptional service from morning coffee to evening cocktails
Create a vibrant atmosphere that embraces our unique canal-side setting and DJ programming
Lead and develop a diverse team that delivers warm, inclusive hospitality
Build meaningful connections with hotel guests, apartment residents, artists, and locals
Oversee scheduling, recruitment, and team development while managing financial performance
Drive operational excellence through supplier relationships, inventory management, and compliance standards
Foster seamless front and back of house collaboration
Bring your personality and warmth to our space, creating an environment where everyone feels welcome
We're looking for someone who:
Has previous management experience in a high-quality, design-led or destination restaurant
Is hospitality-obsessed, with a genuine passion for food, wine, people, and great service
Embraces creativity and understands how food, music, and atmosphere work together
Leads with warmth, confidence, and professionalism
Can juggle multiple priorities while keeping calm and collected in a dynamic, multi-space venue
Has excellent communication and leadership skills, bringing the best out of a diverse team
Understands how to read a room, support guest needs, and deliver memorable experiences
Has a solid understanding of restaurant operations, financials, and health & safety
Is keen to grow and develop, both professionally and as part of an evolving group
