The Role
We’re looking for a Data & Analytics Platform Manager to take a key leadership role within our Data & Analytics function, reporting to the Director of Data & Analytics.
This is a hands‑on yet strategic role, responsible for the management, stability and evolution of our enterprise data platforms spanning data integration, data warehousing, analytics and insight delivery. Our platforms operate across cloud technologies including Microsoft Fabric, AWS and Informatica, and are critical to how data is used across Compass Group UK&I.
You’ll combine operational ownership with longer‑term platform strategy, ensuring our data platforms are secure, reliable, scalable and cost‑effective, while continuing to evolve to meet changing business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Stability & Reliability
* Own the day‑to‑day operation of enterprise data platforms, ensuring high availability and performance
* Implement proactive monitoring and incident management to minimise disruption
* Define and manage SLAs for uptime, performance and data availability
Strategic Oversight & Continuous Improvement
* Define and deliver the data platform roadmap aligned to business and data strategy
* Evaluate and introduce new tools and capabilities to improve performance and efficiency
* Partner with product managers and data teams to enable high‑quality, scalable data products
Vendor & Cost Management
* Manage strategic relationships with key technology partners including Microsoft, AWS and Informatica
* Lead contract negotiations, renewals and service improvement initiatives
* Monitor platform spend, optimise costs and demonstrate ROI from platform investment
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
* Work closely with engineers, analysts, product managers and senior stakeholders
* Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on platform performance, risks and opportunities
* Balance demand, priorities and capacity across multiple platforms and teams
Security, Governance & Compliance
* Ensure platforms meet governance standards and regulatory requirements, including GDPR
* Partner with security and governance teams to maintain robust controls
Innovation & Future Readiness
* Stay ahead of emerging trends in cloud data platforms and analytics
* Drive continuous improvement, experimentation and future‑proofing of the data estate
About You
* Strong experience managing cloud‑based data platforms (Microsoft Fabric, AWS, Informatica)
* Proven background operating reliable, secure data platforms at scale
* Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and modern data architectures
* Strong commercial mindset with experience optimising costs and demonstrating value
* Confident stakeholder and vendor manager, able to influence at senior levels
* Leadership experience within matrixed or Agile delivery environments
* Solid understanding of data governance, security and compliance
