Job Description:

Job overview

Do you want to be part of something new and exciting, a person-centred mental health revolution?

Together, we're stronger. Join the multi-agency drive for better mental health care.

An exciting opportunity is now available to join the East Directorate of Kent & Medway NHS Trust, as one of our Clinical Lead Nurses for the new Mental Health Together and Together Plus services. This is a great time to join the service as it is a time of ongoing transformation of community mental health services. The Clinical Lead Nurse will provide guidance and leadership to junior staff, liaise with the matron and service manager, monitor and maintain the quality and standard of care provided to patients. The Clinical Lead Nurse also plays a vital role in transferring patient care between Mental Health Together and Together Plus services.

The ideal candidate will be a confident and experienced mental health clinician, with a professional qualification in Nursing. You will have experience of working in a supervisory position before, and you must be able to demonstrate a willingness to ensure that KMPT’s values are realized in the way that the service operates. Postgraduate leadership and/or management training is desirable.

What is Mental Health Together?

In Kent and Medway, the community mental health transformation has created a new service model called Mental Health Together.

Mental Health Together will add new roles as part of a new joined-up model of care which bridges the gap that currently exists between primary (i.e., GPs) and community mental health (i.e., KMPT). It will treat people with complex mental health needs by:

Providing support in a person-centred, holistic way

Removing barriers to access and thresholds across services working together

Involving service users and carers as equal partners in their care

Building involvement and co-production at all levels of service design and delivery

Delivering needs-led and personalized trauma-informed care.

Main duties of the job

You will have excellent interpersonal skills to support the team in providing the best possible care. You'll work alongside our existing Operational Team Leader, with specific clinical leadership responsibilities and support decision-making around complex cases as a key member of the multidisciplinary team.

You will provide clinical and professional supervision to all Band 6 nurses in the team. A flexible and can-do attitude is essential.

A diverse post-qualification experience in mental health is required, with at least 3 years post-qualifying experience, including at least one year in a Band 6 role.

Working for our organisation

Come and work with us in the Garden of England where we combine exceptional professional development opportunities with a tremendous quality of life.

We are Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT), providing mental health, learning disability, and specialist services, serving 1.8 million people across the county.

The Trust (rated Good overall by the CQC and Outstanding for care) has 3,283 staff working in 66 buildings across 33 locations, covering an area of 1,450 square miles.

You will be joining friendly, passionate colleagues, rich in diversity, who are committed to providing excellent care to our service users and their loved ones.

The nature of our work attracts kindness and compassion as standard, and everyone from our cleaners and porters to the chief executive and chairman is recognized as playing a vital role in providing an exemplary service.
