As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team at St Davids Hospice, the SpecialistPalliative Care Doctor plays a vital role in delivering compassionate medical care topatients across our inpatient units. This position ensures the highest standards of palliative care, while collaborating closelywith nurses, therapists, and support staff to enhance patient and family well-being. By leading and mentoring trainee doctors and clinical specialists, the role significantlyimpacts the quality of care provided across our facilities, fostering both clinical excellenceand holistic support.
Main duties of the job
Supervisory: Oversees trainee doctors, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, and Clinical Nurse Specialists, guiding their development and ensuring high standards of care.
Collaboration: Works with Senior Sister/Ward Sister on patient admissions, daily management, and discharges, while coordinating care with allied health and social services.
Compliance: Adheres to GMC guidelines, hospice policies, and legal frameworks to ensure ethical and compliant patient care.
Resource Management: Provides cost-effective care by managing clinical resources and contributing to decisions on investigations and treatments.

St Davids Hospice is seeking a locum Specialist Palliative Care Doctor to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team on a flexible, short-term basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide compassionate, high-quality care to patients in our inpatient and day therapy settings. Youll lead the medical management of palliative patients, support trainee doctors and nurse specialists, and contribute to multidisciplinary care planning. Your role is vital in ensuring excellent, ethical, and patient-centred care across all hospice sites.
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration
* Experience in palliative or hospice care
* Strong communication and teamworking skills
* Enhanced DBS and up-to-date clinical training
* Personal medical indemnity cover
* Ability to work independently
* Diploma in palliative care
* Welsh speaker
* Driving licence
