The Role
Forbes Solicitors LLP is seeking a Solicitor to join our Housing and Regeneration (Litigation) team at our Gordon House Office in Walton Summit or the Manchester Office. This is a full-time role, working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Housing Litigation Solicitor to advance their career within a collaborative and professional team. Responsibilities
* Manage a varied caseload of social housing tenancy and leasehold disputes, including ASB, housing management, residential leasehold, and complex cases.
* Attend County Court, Magistrates Court, and First-tier Tribunal hearings, including applications for injunctions, committal hearings, directions, case management, and potential trials.
* Provide written and verbal advice on litigated and non-litigated matters.
* Communicate effectively with clients, opponents, Courts/Tribunals, and third parties to progress cases.
* Offer and supervise value-added services such as client helplines, legal surgeries, and briefing notes.
* Support the Head of Department, Partners, and other advisors, contributing to departmental strategies and business objectives.
* Ensure compliance with quality standards, SRA Principles, Court deadlines, and internal policies.
* Monitor and report on personal and team financial and business performance to ensure profitability.
* Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing within the department.
* Collaborate across departments on joint projects and events.
* Assist in developing the departmental business plan.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and enhance the firm's profile to support business growth.
* Participate in business development activities, including training, articles, newsletters, and submissions to legal directories.
The Person
We will consider applicants based on their knowledge, experience, and skills, including:
* Qualified Solicitor (or CILEX equivalent with civil rights of audience) with at least 2 years PQE.
* Experience in social housing litigation is essential.
* Advocacy experience in Courts or Tribunals is desirable, with willingness to travel throughout England.
* Higher Rights of Audience in Civil Courts is advantageous but not mandatory.
* Ability to manage own caseload, meet deadlines, and generate fees against targets.
* Proficiency with IT systems, including Word, Outlook, and case management tools.
* Strong organizational and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently, self-motivated, and capable of supervising others.
* Team player with reliability and enthusiasm, aligned with Forbes values.
* Excellent attention to detail.
