What You’ll Be Doing
As Substation Inspector you will ensure Transmission sub‑stations and Grid Supply Point 11kV – 400kV are inspected for defects by carrying out inspections in accordance with the sub‑station inspection scheme. This includes routine inspection in accordance with the inspection programme and checklist (e.g. fences, compound, building, batteries) to maintain sub‑station security, taking remedial action on defects such as fence repairs and signage, and taking readings from all sub‑station equipment such as transformers and voltage transformers. The role is primarily outdoors, on varied terrain, with flexible working hours where possible. You will act as an on‑site representative of the company, responding to customer complaints and ensuring compliance.
What You’ll Bring
* Ability to read cable pressure and relate it to min/max pressure levels for cables.
* Ability to take readings and carry out checks on all items on the inspection schedule (circuit breakers, transformers, fencing, building).
* Basic repair skills for fences (replace missing plates, etc.).
* Attention to detail to complete checks with accuracy and consistency.
* Awareness of Health & Safety requirements.
* Computer literacy.
* Full driver’s licence (essential).
