RESPONSIBLE TO: Deputy Dean of the Business School
POST OBJECTIVES:
Deliver and manage modules across undergraduate and postgraduate sport and football degree courses. Complete administrative tasks, including quality assurance documents related to student feedback, moderation of assessments, and participation in Assessment Boards as required by GIS’s awarding bodies. Support staff teaching on UG and PG courses and assist in supporting the academic provision at overseas partnerships linked to GIS courses.
KEY TASKS:
Teach designated modules and courses as defined by the Dean of School, including contributing to online course delivery.
Maintain academic standards and adhere to course and module specifications.
Design and deliver teaching materials for undergraduate and postgraduate levels, contributing to curriculum review and enhancement focused on student learning outcomes.
* Prepare and deliver lectures and seminars across various study levels.
* Foster debate and critical thinking to develop students’ engagement and excellence.
* Identify students’ learning needs, define objectives, supervise projects, field trips, placements, and advise on study skills.
* Integrate innovative teaching methods, technology, and real-world applications to enhance engagement and assessment.
* Monitor student engagement and feedback, maintaining accurate progress records.
Undertake assessments and exams, providing constructive feedback.
* Assess and verify students’ work.
* Collaborate with colleagues and External Examiners to embed best practices.
Engage in professional development.
* Develop knowledge of learning strategies and assessment techniques.
* Maintain expertise in your specialism to develop new knowledge.
* Participate in research and professional growth activities.
Participate in departmental seminars for knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary collaboration.
* Act as a responsible team member and develop productive relationships.
* Build external networks to promote GIS and foster future collaborations.
* Collaborate on assessment procedures development and implementation.
Provide pastoral care as a personal tutor, supporting students and referring them to appropriate services.
* Achieve KPIs related to attendance, retention, and achievement.
* Work with support staff to maintain high student satisfaction levels.
* Contribute to annual review and evaluation reports, implementing improvements based on feedback.
Undertake staff development and training aligned with GIS objectives, including attending academic briefings.
* Follow health and safety and equal opportunities policies.
* Work flexibly and undertake other relevant duties.
