About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced hands‑on Principal Engineer with proven ability to write elegant and maintainable Python code, as well as investment banking experience in the global markets space. The member will work closely with various technology teams and business partners (Middle office, Front office, Business Supervision Officers, Finance) to build out a risk application for the FICC lines of business.
About the Team
The Horizontal Risk team is based across four regions – London, Dublin, New York and Mumbai – and supports the Global Markets business. The London team currently consists of seven people and works closely with teams in Dublin and Mumbai as well as other front‑office risk teams.
Responsibilities
- Analyze business requirements and design solutions in the target architecture.
- Technically lead junior developers.
- Engage fully in the development lifecycle, including supporting UAT and regression testing.
- Deliver large‑scale platforms with a strong background/track record of technical design.
- Apply excellent problem‑solving, design, development and debugging skills to complex technical problems.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Solid years of software engineering experience.
- Strong background in technical design and solutions delivery.
- Proficient in programming paradigms such as distributed architectures and handling large data sets.
- Develop, test and deliver complex software to achieve business goals.
- Knowledge of contemporary development processes, build environments and testing tools.
- Ideally five or more years in the financial services industry.
- Knowledge of front‑office risk in any Global Markets business.
- Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics or a relevant analytical discipline.
- Experience with agile development (e.g., XP, SCRUM, Kanban) and continuous integration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work closely with technology and business groups.
- Team player who is self‑motivated and proactive.
