Senior Evidence Advisor (Work Package Lead) - 30686
We are committed to being an inclusive employer and ensuring equal opportunities for everyone. We welcome flexible working patterns for all our vacancies, including job share.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Environment Agency’s Natural Capital Ecosystem Assessment (NCEA) Programme as the lead for the Data Analysis & Statistics Work Package within the overarching Data, Analysis & Digital Workstream. The Defra-led NCEA programme gathers broad-scale and comprehensive data on ecosystems, including freshwater, estuarine, and coastal water environments, to reveal their benefits for people and the economy—i.e., their natural capital. This evidence will help policymakers and decision-makers recognize the true value of nature.
You will lead a small team of data scientists and statisticians responsible for supporting the design and evaluation of new NCEA monitoring networks and analyzing the data to develop statistically robust, nationally representative evidence on ecosystem condition. You will coordinate and support technical delivery to ensure the work package meets its objectives and aligns with the programme's overall goals.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Setting the overall data analysis and statistical approach for the programme;
2. Developing the workplan for the work package and coordinating its delivery;
3. Supporting the team in developing analytical and statistical approaches, resolving technical issues, managing risks, and ensuring work meets scientific standards;
4. Collaborating with the workstream lead and other work package leads on cross-cutting issues;
5. Engaging with stakeholders within and beyond the programme on data analysis and statistical approaches;
6. Line management duties for the team.
