Woodland Logistics are recruiting a Purchase Ledger Clerk for our finance team in our Head Office in Chelmsford, Essex. The Purchase Ledger Clerk will report to the Financial Controller and will work closely with Finance Team and will be responsible for the administration and accounting of purchases and payments.

About the role
1. Maintain good supplier records, update terms and payment records;
2. Build good relationships with key suppliers;
3. Reconcile supplier accounts including agent and contra accounts;
4. Obtain approvals to facilitate payment;
5. Regularly review supplier statements against entries on the system to identify invoices not yet received, requesting copies where applicable;
6. Register all invoices on FCL to obtain an ‘S Reference’;
7. Ensure invoices are checked against estimates and passed in the system accurately;
8. Re-distribute unpassed invoices to other business units and request authorisation;
9. Address any discrepancies or issues that arise with purchase invoices;
10. Escalate potentially unresolved issues to Operations/Finance team in a timely manner so a swift resolution can be identified;
11. Reconcile foreign Currency supplier accounts, understand the impact of losses and gains;
12. Regularly run various purchase ledger reports, raising issues where necessary;
13. File current AP invoices;
14. Support day-to-day finance functions as and when required;
15. Work together with the Purchase Ledger team, act as cover for fellow colleagues;
16. Assist with month-end duties and the year-end tax and audit queries; and
17. Any other duties as required by management for the smooth and efficient operation of the department.
18. Work with the Purchase Ledger team to continually improve processes and business performance;
19. Support changes in the role necessary to take the department and business forward; and
20. Work to achieve personal objectives set at appraisal and/or those set monthly or quarterly.
21. Achieve agreed individual objectives; and
22. Understand and adhere to all Woodland policies and procedures relevant to the role.
