Overview
Head of Transition, LGC Grant Management Group (GMG). You will coordinate mobilisation of new operational contracts and lead the parallel wind-down of existing contracts, safeguarding continuity, compliance and performance. You will align LGC and customer strategic goals with design and development of new and revised services, planning and executing a smooth transition from contract award to full operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
* Developing and implementing mobilisation plans: Create detailed plans, timelines and documentation outlining steps to move from contract award to full operational delivery.
* Managing the mobilisation process: Oversee all phases of mobilisation, ensuring activities are completed on schedule and within budget.
* Risk management: Identify risks and issues, develop mitigation strategies, and maintain a risk register.
* Stakeholder management: Maintain regular communication with internal and external stakeholders, manage expectations, and provide progress updates.
* Resource management: Coordinate allocation and utilisation of resources to support mobilisation.
* Ensuring compliance: Ensure all mobilisation activities comply with regulations, policies and contractual obligations.
* Leading and motivating teams: Provide leadership and guidance to the mobilisation team and foster a productive work environment.
* Reporting and documentation: Prepare progress reports, document key decisions and actions, and maintain records of mobilisation activities.
Qualifications and Skills
* Required Criteria: Proven track record in complex service mobilisation and transition management; strong project management skills with budgets and timelines; experience with TUPE-related staff transfers; experience delivering organisational culture change and maintaining staff engagement; excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to collaborate with other organisations to align transition plans with wider goals; solid risk management and issue resolution; ability to lead in ambiguity and drive outcomes; commercial and financial literacy including budget management and value-for-money delivery.
* Desired Criteria: Familiarity with NIHR/UKRI or similar scientific research commissioning environments; experience transitioning projects in politically sensitive or multi-agency contexts; understanding of healthcare commissioning, innovation funding, or public sector consultancy; strong change management, organisational design and cultural alignment skills; ability to negotiate with customers and service delivery organisations.
* Qualifications and Knowledge: Degree or equivalent in business, management, health, or related field; expertise in commercial contract delivery, risk frameworks, and performance assurance; ability to translate strategic goals into executable plans.
Compensation and Working Arrangements
* Location: Twickenham, London / Hybrid working model
* Contract Type: Full Time, 12-18 Month Fixed Term Contract
* Salary: Executive level, commensurate with experience
* Working Hours: 7.5 hours per day
* Annual Leave: 25 days plus UK public holidays

This is a hybrid role based at our office in Twickenham, London with a minimum requirement of one in-office day per week. This requirement may increase based on team needs or operational demands.
