Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Band 8a Sexual Health Deputy Lead Nurse to support the delivery of high-quality sexual health services across the Devon-wide area (excluding Plymouth), following the award of a new long-term contract.
This post has been created to provide professional leadership to a large nursing workforce across Devon and Torbay, supporting the current Lead Nurse and contributing to the wider senior management team.
The successful candidate will be a visible, senior clinical presence across our three hub clinics in Torbay, Barnstaple and Exeter, providing regular senior site cover and 1:1 supervision to senior nursing staff. Regular travel between sites is an essential part of the role.
This role also includes participation in the senior manager on-call rota covering both Sexual Health and SARC services.

This role will provide support to the Lead Nurse, supporting the overall management and leadership to specialist practitioners clinical support staff within the Devon Sexual Health Service (Torbay, Barnstaple and Exeter). The postholder will also have an overview of all administration staff and processes, ensuring these are actioned and reviewed. There will also be a responsibility to work in conjunction with local medical leads for the clinical management of the service.
The post holder will be expected to have in depth clinical knowledge of sexual health and be able to guide and direct nurses within the speciality. They will continue to participate in the delivery of clinical care in order to monitor and evaluate standards of care, to be visible to the public, and to provide credible clinical leadership to nursing staff. They will also act as a source of specialist advice and will liaise with other services as appropriate
