Deputy Head of Pharmacy, Primary Care and Community Services (Central) – Band 8b
We are looking for a dynamic and forward‑thinking individual to lead the development of safe, effective clinical pharmacy services within primary care and community. The role includes operational leadership, promotion and support of pharmacy services focusing on patient care and outcomes, and collaborative work across the Integrated Health Community (IHC).
Key responsibilities include supporting non‑medical prescriber and advanced practice development, and ensuring pharmacy services meet the needs of patients while maintaining professional standards.
Main Duties
* Deputise for the Head of Pharmacy, Primary Care and Community, representing pharmacy in the delivery of care and contributing to service delivery decisions.
* Lead operational aspects of pharmacy services within the part‑time schedule of 22.5 hours.
* Support the development and expansion of advanced practice roles and non‑medical prescriber services.
* Communicate with cross‑sector operational leads and stakeholders.
* Welsh language is desirable; speakers of Welsh and/or English are equally welcome.
Qualifications
* Registered pharmacist with a GPhC‑registered postgraduate master's degree or equivalent in pharmacy.
* Post‑graduate diploma/MSc in a relevant pharmacy area or documented relevant experience.
Experience
* Demonstrated level of experience providing specialist pharmacy services.
* Experience working effectively within a multi‑disciplinary environment.
Desirable Experience
* Knowledge of pharmacy services to mental health and community services.
* Experience managing conflicting priorities within tight budgets and/or time constraints.
Skills
* Project and operational management experience.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to motivate and manage staff effectively.
Knowledge
* Advanced knowledge of clinical pharmacy and evidence‑based therapeutics in area of responsibility.
* Awareness of statutory and professional standards that apply to prescribing and pharmacy services.
Desirable Knowledge
* Knowledge of health service developments that will impact general practice and community pharmacy.
Personal Attributes
* Evidence of leadership skills and ability to influence and negotiate within the service and external stakeholders.
* Good communicator, motivated and able to work as part of a team.
* Ability to develop excellent working relationships with individuals and partner organisations.
