Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist/Psychological Therapist
We are seeking a Senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist or Senior Psychological Therapist to join the Acute Inpatient Psychological Services team at St George's Park Hospital, Morpeth. The Acute Inpatient Service comprises two male wards and one female ward with 19 beds each. The Psychology team works across Acute, Rehabilitation and Older Adult inpatient wards and is based both on the wards and in the park site offices to foster strong cross-pathway collaboration.

Responsibilities
* Provide specialist psychological assessments (including neuropsychological assessment) and interventions for service users with a broad range of mental health problems.
* Facilitate team supervision, reflective practice, and debriefs.
* Use research skills to design and conduct evaluations of the service, with potential for peer‑reviewed publications.
* Design and deliver training to ward-based staff and MDT colleagues relevant to their needs.
* Provide supervision and support to MDT staff and a Higher Assistant Psychologist.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Honours Degree in Psychology recognised for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, or equivalent degree level qualification in mental health; post‑graduate qualifications in psychological assessment and psychological therapy (e.g., Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, Post‑graduate Diploma in CBT, IAPT High Intensity CBT diploma); HCPC registered practitioner psychologist or equivalent (e.g., BABCP registered CBT practitioner); or Member of an appropriate professional body.
* Doctoral level training in clinical psychology (including psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology), two or more distinct psychological therapies, and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by HCPC/BPS.
Knowledge and Experience
* Knowledge of theory and practice of specialist psychological therapies for difficult‑to‑treat groups relevant to the community pathway (e.g., personality disorder, dual diagnosis). Substantial post‑qualification experience in specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment across diverse settings. Evidence of ongoing CPD and formal training in clinical supervision.
* Well‑developed communication skills to convey complex information to clients, families, carers and professionals within and outside the NHS. Doctoral‑level knowledge of research methodology and data analysis relevant to clinical psychology. Experience in clinical supervision.
Desirable
* Experience applying psychological therapy across different cultural contexts. Knowledge of relevant legislation. Trainer in clinical supervision.
Skills and Competencies
* Advanced skills in psychological assessment, intervention and management using complex methods. Proficiency in at least two evidence‑based psychological therapies relevant to the pathway. Strong communication skills for complex information. Ability to provide clinical supervision and consultation. Commitment to continuing professional development as required by the relevant professional body.
* Ability to manage emotional impact of highly emotive situations through self‑management and clinical supervision.
Role/Team Requirements
* Ability to teach and train others using complex multimedia materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings. Ability to uphold clinical governance in the face of emotive situations.
* Desirable: experience working within a multicultural framework.
