About the school
The school is an education setting based for 16 – 25+ years old with Special Educational Needs. It is based on 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. The school operate enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN in Dorset and the local area. The school focuses on vocations like horticulture, agriculture, equine skills and animal care as well as many more, to enrich the lives and education of its pupils.
Key Responsibilities
As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a crucial role in helping students develop both academically and personally. Your responsibilities will include:
Individual Support: Provide one-on-one or small group assistance tailored to each student’s needs.
Skill Building: Support students in developing essential life and vocational skills.
Community Engagement: Encourage participation in community-based learning and social activities.
Collaborative Approach: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to implement individual learning plans.
Positive Environment: Create a safe, inclusive, and motivating space for learning.
Progress Tracking: Maintain accurate records and contribute to student reviews and planning.
Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Experience: Previous experience supporting individuals with SEN, particularly in a post-16 setting.
Empathy: A caring, patient, and understanding approach.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to engage with students, families, and colleagues.
Teamwork: A collaborative mindset and a positive attitude.
Driving Licence: A valid UK driving licence and willingness to drive are essential.
Qualifications: Relevant training or qualifications in education or SEN support are desirable.
