Job Description
Payroll Team LeadPayroll Leadership
8. Lead and manage the complete processing of multiple monthly payrolls for the UK and Ireland.
9. Oversee preparation, validation, and approval of payroll data to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
10. Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams and external bodies regarding payroll matters.
11. Provide guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders on payroll queries, policies, and procedures.
Operational Payroll Delivery
12. Manage all employee lifecycle payroll activities including starters, leavers, contractual changes, absences, and updates to work patterns.
13. Process variable pay elements, overtime, bonus payments, and backdated adjustments.
14. Calculate statutory payments such as parental leave, sickness, and other statutory entitlements.
15. Ensure correct tax processing, benefit reporting, and payroll deductions.
Benefits & Compliance
16. Administer company benefits including healthcare schemes, protection benefits, vehicle benefits, and pension processes.
17. Monitor and process holiday pay, accruals, and private mileage deductions.
18. Liaise with benefit providers, validate data, and approve supplier invoices.
19. Ensure continued compliance with UK and Irish payroll legislation, including communication with relevant authorities.
Audit, Reporting & Controls
20. Lead annual and periodic internal and external payroll audits, ensuring data accuracy and strong controls.
21. Produce regular payroll, finance, demographic, and benefits‑related reports for internal stakeholders.
22. Collate year‑end information including director remuneration and statutory submissions.
Process Improvement & Projects
23. Drive improvements to payroll processes and implement efficiency initiatives.
24. Support transitions to new payroll solutions and manage stakeholder coordination.
25. Successfully delivered a time‑critical payroll implementation that resulted in significant financial savings for the organisation.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Payroll Team Lead should have:
26. Proven experience in payroll management
27. Full end to end UK payroll exposure
28. Multi frequency exposure - Monthly, weekly etc.
29. Manual calculation exposure
30. Happy to commute to Milton Keynes - 3 days per week
