Shifts cover Monday to Sunday, 7am to 8pm to include weekend and Bank Holidays As and When Required

York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) are looking for an approachable and flexible Catering Services Operative to join our team in York. Experience is not necessary as full training will be given, but a willingness to learn and develop your skills is essential.

Main duties of the job

Duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Delivering food to and serving patient food to the wards areas
2. Using ward ovens to regenerate food
3. Keeping the ward kitchen clean
4. Monitoring food temperatures as part of HACCP
5. Washing up and other general cleaning duties.
6. The role also could involve working in cold rooms to pick and seal patient food and also working in pot wash.

The ideal candidate will have catering experience, be fantastic with customers, a good team player and able to work on their own unsupervised. Full training will be provided. Enhanced rates apply when working at the weekend.

Person specification

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria

7. Good basic education which includes reading and writing plus basic numeric skills
8. Basic understanding or a willingness to complete appropriate qualifications and training which includes Food Hygiene Level 2

Desirable criteria

9. BICSc Qualification/NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning/Catering or equivalent

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria

10. Awareness of security and access control within the workplace
11. Good basic education including reading, writing and numeracy skills

Desirable criteria

12. Previous experience of working in the NHS
13. Experience of working in cleaning industry
14. Able to use small and large pieces of equipment such as Regeneration oven/dishwashers/Floor machinery
