We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Data Engineer to join our Grid Innovation team. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining infrastructure and data pipelines for AI/ML applications in energy.
Experience in energy, smart infrastructure, or industrial automation is essential, supporting AI-driven innovation in complex, regulated systems.
Reporting to the AI Leader within the CTO organization, you will collaborate with Grid Automation product lines, R&D, and other teams to develop scalable data frameworks for customer solutions and rapid deployment, both at the edge and in the cloud.
Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain database architectures and data models for grid and energy applications.
- Use storage technologies like Relational Databases, Data Lakes, NoSQL for scalable, secure data access.
- Build and optimize data pipelines for ingestion, cleaning, transformation, and feature extraction.
- Develop integrations with data sources and APIs for seamless data flow.
- Identify datasets to enhance product capabilities and decision-making.
- Automate workflows for diverse data formats.
- Monitor system performance and scalability, implementing improvements.
- Ensure data governance and quality across systems.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists and ML Engineers to deliver ready-to-use datasets.
- Work with product management and R&D to develop innovative data solutions.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field focused on data engineering or power engineering.
- Proven experience in energy, smart infrastructure, or industrial automation.
- Hands-on experience with building and managing data pipelines.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and at least one other language (Scala, Java).
- Experience with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Expertise in ETL processes and automation.
- Strong communication skills and adaptability in dynamic environments.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience in scalable data solutions and big data technologies (Hadoop, Kafka, Spark).
- Data visualization skills (Tableau, Power BI).
- Knowledge of data warehousing (Snowflake, Redshift).
