About the Role:
If you're a commercially savvy leader ready for your next challenge then we’re excited to offer an excellent opportunity to join our client’s team as a Senior Commercial Manager on the HS2 project. This is a key role in the Commercial team, responsible for leading commercial strategy, managing stakeholder relationships, and supporting the delivery of major infrastructure works.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead commercial planning and strategy for assigned projects and areas
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, JV partners, and the client.
* Ensure the project’s commercial position is protected through contractual, legal, and insurance expertise.
* Prepare and deliver contract briefings to commercial and operational teams.
* Manage valuations, invoices, and payments to maximise cash flow.
* Oversee preparation and negotiation of final accounts, including variations and claims.
* Identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
* Support and develop the commercial team, managing workloads and performance.
* Lead governance and reporting processes, presenting to senior management.
* Monitor costs, resources, and efficiency across labour, plant, and materials.
* Provide expert commercial and contractual advice to project teams.
Experience & Qualifications:
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
* Member or Fellow of RICS, ICES, or CIOB.
* Proven experience working on NEC contracts.
* Background in civil engineering, rail, highways, or infrastructure projects.
* Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to analyse cost data, contracts, and commercial reports.
* Experience managing commercial teams and reporting at senior levels.
* Knowledge of procurement strategies and legal considerations.
