Farrow & Ball - Chemist, Wimborne, Dorset (12 month Fixed Term Contract) We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our Research & Development team in Wimborne, Dorset as a Chemist We are offering this position on a full time, fixed term basis for 12 months. Farrow & Ball is a luxury British lifestyle brand that prides itself in creating richly pigmented paint and handcrafted wallpaper, using print methods dating back 300 years and the finest quality ingredients. The unique Farrow & Ball look transforms modern and traditional homes, large and small, inside and out. Established in Dorset in 1946, we have grown over the last 80 years and now proudly have 60 showrooms worldwide with a global network of stockists. The key to our success is the people behind the paint: from the team handcrafting each tin to showroom staff to support functions, our shared passion ensures customers have a positive, engaging experience at every stage of their journey with us. This role will be reporting to our Research and Development Manager working as part of team, to deliver top quality products, customer service support and product advice that consistently meet and exceed customers’ expectations. What we expect from you as a Chemist: Key Responsibilities: To have a global view of technologies and support product development & innovation strategy through evaluation & application of innovative raw materials Lead product improvement and new product development projects from conception, through development and into production Work with manufacturing to optimise efficiencies and product performance properties To be able to understand customer needs and impact on technical specifications and develop technology to meet/exceed their expectations Ensure products developed are compliant with global regulations Support global colour management and formulation optimisation Support alternative raw materials evaluation projects and ensure supply risk is managed at a minimum level Follow day-to-day based raw materials administration, COSHH/legislation assessment, technical evaluation, data and communication processes Support new raw materials and products implementation through pilot and full scale trials. In addition, ensure the product is manufactured at the best possible efficiency. Interact effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers and manage their expectations. Capable of influencing and directing other resources to meet the project needs in timely manner. Share learnings with all colleagues to enhance team knowledge and understanding. Ensure technical works are completed following best practices and to the highest possible quality Act as champion and to ensure lab is operated at the highest level of HSE standards Key Attributes: An understanding of the paint or similar manufacturing process is desirable but not essential Previous experience in a detailed and quality focused job role is desired.
