Project Accountant (12-Month FTC)

A well-established, internationally operating technical and professional services organisation is seeking a Project Accountant to join its finance team on a 12-month fixed-term (maternity cover) contract.
This role sits within a structured controlling / project accounting environment and will suit someone who enjoys working closely with project managers, maintaining strong financial control and supporting delivery across a portfolio of projects.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:

Preparation of monthly P&L reporting for a project-led division
*
Project accounting across multiple live projects, including WIP tracking and cost-at-completion reviews
*
Monitoring project costs, revenue recognition and profitability
*
Budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and commentary
*
Monthly accruals and prepayments, including support for overseas entities
*
Supporting month-end, year-end and audit processes
*
Ensuring compliance with internal controls and group reporting requirements
*
Ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
Requirements
We’re keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:

Experience in project accounting, management accounting or controlling
*
Exposure to WIP, project costing or contract-based environments
*
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems (SAP desirable but not essential)
*
Ability to work to tight deadlines within a structured reporting environment
*
Strong communication skills and confidence working with non-finance stakeholders
*
Part-qualified, fully qualified (CA / ACCA / CIMA) or qualified by experience
