We have a Shunter vacancy available within TATA Steel’s large Steelpark site. Steelpark is the UK’s largest steel distribution and processing centre, and the only one to be supported by a domestic steel mill. The suitable applicant will be someone that considers themselves to be proactive, reliable and an asset to a busy team.
Only applicants that hold Class 1 C+E and relevant experience will be considered.
Role: Shunter
Location: TATA Steel, Steelpark Way, Willenhall, Wolverhampton WV11 3SQ
Salary: £12.75ph with a 10% shift allowance = £14.02ph (£(phone number removed) per annum)
Contract length: 12 months initially with the view to extend
Shift Patterns: 37.5 hours per week, Double days, working Monday to Thursday 05:30-13:30 and 13:30 to 22:00 and Friday 0600-11:40 and 11:40-17:10.
Start: ASAP pending Occupational Health check which includes a Drug and Alcohol test
Responsibilities:

Collecting and dropping off trailers in and around the Steelpark site

Strapping product, ensuring that it always complies with restraint guidelines
*
Ensuring the safe movement and arrangement of vehicles within the designated areas
*
Following site Health and Safety rules and ensuring those around you do the same
*
Challenging unsafe conditions and actions accordingly
*
Working flexibly and as directed to meet the needs of the business
*
Understanding and deploying continuous improvement and problem-solving techniques
Essential requirements:
*
Class 1 C+E Licence (in date and can be evidenced)
*
Previous experience in a Shunter/LGV/Trailer capacity (2+ years)
*
Prior experience and good awareness around strapping product onto trailers
*
Strong verbal and written communication skills
*
Good knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation
*
Ability to work on own initiative as well as communicate effectively as part of a team
