Location: Oxford
Salary: £32,000 – £36,000

About the Role:
As a Senior Geophysicist, you’ll support subsurface investigations from instruction through to data interpretation and reporting.
The role involves acquiring and analysing borehole geophysical data, contributing to ground models, and supporting site investigations across brownfield and greenfield projects.
A mix of site and office work, with opportunities to develop and progress.

Responsibilities
9. Plan and design geophysical surveys, delivering robust technical solutions from bid stage through to completion
10. Supervise field activities to ensure high data quality and adherence to technical standards, with site support as required
11. Lead the analysis, interpretation, and reporting of complex geophysical data, producing clear and reliable outputs
12. Uphold quality assurance standards, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget while encouraging innovation
13. Contribute across sectors including infrastructure, engineering, environmental investigations, UXO, and utilities
14. Support and mentor junior team members, providing ongoing technical guidance
15. Carry out occasional fieldwork in the UK and overseas as project needs dictate
What We’re Looking for:
16. Education: Postgraduate qualification in geophysics or a closely related field
17. Experience: 7+ years in near-surface geophysics, with proven experience delivering complex projects and leading teams
18. Technical Capability: Strong working knowledge of key methods including GPR, EM, magnetometry, microgravity, electrical (resistivity, IP), and seismic techniques (refraction and surface waves)
19. Software Skills: Proficient with recognised processing and interpretation packages (such as Oasis Montaj, GeoGiga, SurfSeis, Res2Dinv, Zonde, Aarhus Workbench or equivalent). Experience with Python and GIS/mapping tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, QGIS) is beneficial
20. Leadership & Communication: Effective leader with clear communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to varied audiences
