General Manager (Managing Director Designate)
Company Description
This GM MD Designate opportunity is working with a profitable and successful manufacturer and supplier of quality cast stone products into the building sector. Established in 2011 and more recently purchased by it’s parent company in 2023 the business has financial backing and a desire for growth.
Role Description
The role will have overall responsibility for the business unit and requires an experienced senior manager or director with strong commercial acumen combined with a practical / pragmatic operational attitude. Working closely with the parent company you will develop both the sales and operational elements of the business to take the business forward whilst maintaining a keen focus on financial performance, ensuring customer satisfaction and building strong relationships with clients, suppliers and the team themselves.
Responsibilities and duties
* Develop and maintain organisational culture, values, and reputation in its markets
* Lead role in all commercial and operational matters, ensuring the business continues to achieve sustained, long term profitable growth
* Owner of business P&L and budget, working closely with the parent company
* The ability to execute short-term goals in line with longer-term strategies
* Representing the company at senior levels within the customer base to ensure that relationships are enhanced, drive profitable growth strategies, identifying profitable channels through engagement with existing and new customers
* Develop business plans and milestones and communicate with stakeholders
* Assess and drive improvements across all areas of the business
* Develop and maintain excellent health and safety standards
Qualifications and experience
* Combined commercial and operational leadership experience in an SME setting
* Concrete, stonework or construction experience is highly desirable
* Experience of scaling a business
* A commercially focused background / experience
* Degree in business, or comparable industry experience
* General experience in the manufacturing sector
