Overview
Maintenance Supervisor – Permanent role in Oil & Gas / Petrochemical industries.
To provide oversight and supervision of the maintenance department and its activities across hydrocarbon processing facilities. This role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable maintenance operations aligned with operational goals and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise maintenance tasks carried out by both internal personnel and contractors, ensuring safety procedures and job specifications are followed.
* Monitor and evaluate the maintenance team’s performance, ensuring work is prioritised, delegated effectively, and delivered to expected standards.
* Coordinate the planning, scheduling, and execution of routine and non-routine maintenance to meet service intervals and minimise equipment downtime. This includes oversight of third-party maintenance services.
* Collaborate with operations teams to resolve equipment faults promptly, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
* Ensure the asset management system is kept up to date, and review it daily to support efficient scheduling of maintenance work. Provide timely updates to the maintenance lead for internal reporting.
* Identify and recommend improvements to maintenance practices, equipment performance, and departmental efficiency.
* Assist in identifying plant improvements and contribute to the development of maintenance scopes, shutdowns, and turnaround planning.
Qualifications and Experience
* Proven experience in a supervisory maintenance role, preferably within the oil and gas or a similar high-risk industry.
* Holds a relevant technical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, HNC/Foundation Degree) in electrical, instrumentation, or mechanical maintenance.
* Able to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision and take responsibility for routine and non-routine maintenance activities.
* Demonstrable experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software.
* Knowledge of hydrocarbon processing operations and associated safety standards is desirable.
* Experience working in hazardous areas; certification such as CompEx would be advantageous.
