A Senior Design Manager is required to expand our in-house Design Management capability for upcoming projects. You will manage the design aspects of tenders and ongoing projects. We seek an individual with a strong background, ideally in the Energy sector, with specific experience in substation or OHL projects. A solid understanding of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, along with proven experience in managing Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contracts, is essential. Your ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, including external consultancies, will be key to successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage the design process from bid to delivery, ensuring appropriate resources, skills, and structure.
2. Develop and implement a comprehensive design strategy aligned with project goals, commercial requirements, and sustainability targets.
3. Oversee coordination of multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring compliance with RIBA stages, legislation, and standards.
4. Ensure design outputs meet project timelines, budgets, and specifications, with regular reviews and updates.
5. Manage design reviews, change control processes, and stakeholder interfaces, including clients, contractors, and statutory bodies.
6. Adhere to internal procedures and promote continuous improvement and innovation throughout the design lifecycle.
Qualifications
* HND/HNC/degree in a relevant field.
* Membership of a recognized professional institute, e.g., CIOB.
* Experience with design strategy and approach development.
* Experience with both single-stage tenders and preferred terms procurement routes.
* Experience in bidding and securing projects.
