A newly created role due to Business growth
You will actively participate in the operational management of the quality function within the Company and ensure that customer expectation is understood and managed from a quality perspective.
Experience gained in the Automotive industry would be ideal. The company will consider an experienced Quality Technician who is looking for career progression for this site based role
Customer Relations
Manage customer complaints process and drive the closure of all issues. (Through use of 8D + 5WHY Problem Solving tools)
Establish customer review meetings to discuss issues proactively.
Generate and implement Product Quality Control Plans and inspection standards
Establish customer agreed product quality standards and aid implementation with all appropriate departments
Compile Customer key performance indicators and metrics where required
Provide team leadership for product quality improvement programs i.e operator awareness.
Maintain Customer Concern Database
Develop reaction plans for containment of identified issues i.e. quality alerts.
Internal Customer Relations
Maintain awareness of all customer requirements, issues and status for operators, team leaders and production management.
Production, education and support for continuous improvement, 8D ownership and completion.
Development awareness of purchasing & sales departments, knowledge of customer quality requirements both in NPI and current product.
Supplier Management Support
* Where necessary, support SQA in supplier product quality issues.
Business Management System
* Active participant in the management of ISO 9001
* Conduct internal audits as required to agreed schedules
* Verify the conformity of product quality to agreed standards (I.e. through product/process audits)
NPI Support
Active participant in NPI projects with an emphasis on all QA activities to include:
* APQP
* ISIR
* Problem Solving Techniques/Lessons Learnt/Quality History/PFMEA
* PPAP support and generation of quality documentation.
Continuous Improvement
* To engage in any continuous improvement initiatives as considered appropriate and necessary.
* Participate in any health and safety incentives as and when required.
Additional Duties
Undertake other reasonable duties in line with the business needs and objectives which are consistent and commensurate with the overall purpose of the position.
Building good relationships with production staff and operators to build a culture of operators proactively reporting problems, rather than waiting for quality to find them.
Assist in internal 8D investigations to ensure that actions are agreed, assigned with deadlines to drive an 8D culture.
Outcomes of Role:
Management of Customer PPM with the reduction in the specific Customer PPM figures
Effective and sustainable customer and supplier relationships
To ensure that the Quality Department is performing to the requirements of the Company’s Critical Success Factors (CSF’s) and its overall goals and objectives
To ensure the internal and co-operative working relationships across all departments and disciplines
Prepared to travel as required, sometimes at short notice.
Person Specification
Specific Qualifications:
Qualified within an appropriate quality or engineering discipline Previous Work Experience:
Experience of working within a Quality department operating at engineering level.
Essential – Working within a manufacturing environment
Essential – Interpretation on 2D drawings including GD&T
Desirable – Working within an automotive environment
Specific Knowledge / Skills Competence:
Demonstrate full knowledge of required quality processes and procedures
Excellent understanding of ISO/TS including PPAP, APQP
Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques
Excellent computer skills and competent in developing and using a PC and associated networks and systems to acquire, manipulate and disseminate information
Good organisational and Time Management skills
Ability to lead and develop project teams
