JOB TITLE: Domestic Welfare Assistant
SALARY & HOURS: £22,964.00 pro-rata | Part-time 30 hours per week, may include shift work across weekdays, evenings, and weekends

We are seeking a committed and approachable Domestic Welfare Assistant to join our Estates team. This is an exciting opportunity to combine practical service delivery with student-facing support, helping to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness while also contributing to student wellbeing across our campuses.
The role requires a hands-on, caring approach. You will ensure teaching spaces, accommodation, and communal areas are cleaned to professional standards, while also being a friendly presence for students, offering support, listening to concerns, and signposting to relevant services where needed.
Key Responsibilities
 * Delivering regular cleaning across classrooms, accommodation, and communal areas to BICSc (British Institute of Cleaning Science) standards.
 * Supporting student wellbeing by being a visible, approachable presence and signposting concerns to the right service.
 * Participating in daily team handovers to ensure consistent service delivery.
 * Reporting hazards, risks, or welfare issues promptly.
 * Carrying out deep cleans and ad-hoc cleaning tasks, following safe working practices and COSHH regulations.
 * Contributing to a supportive team culture that prioritises collaboration, accountability, and care.

 * Experience in a cleaning or facilities role is desirable, but not essential - full training will be provided.
 * Good communication and listening skills, with the ability to engage effectively and sensitively with students and staff.
 * Awareness of health and safety practices (COSHH, PPE) or willingness to train.
 * A proactive, team-oriented attitude with the ability to work independently when required.
 * A caring, approachable manner with a genuine interest in student welfare.
