Area Operations Manager (Part‑time)
We have an exciting opportunity for an Area Operations Manager to join our Regional Management team for Surrey & West Sussex. This is a permanent part‑time, job share role (18.75 hours per week).
As an Area Operations Manager, you will oversee established services, working closely with Service Managers to ensure our support is safe, person‑centred, and delivered to the highest standards. You’ll lead with purpose, inspire teams, and help shape a culture where both people we support and staff can truly thrive.
Responsibilities
* Build strong relationships with Service Managers and the wider team.
* Review and improve service performance using data and KPIs.
* Coach managers to be the best leaders they can be.
* Drive quality and effectiveness across multiple services.
* Manage financial risks and opportunities.
* Ensure all services meet the required regulatory standards.
Qualifications
* Experience in the care and support sector or similar people‑focused environments.
* Understanding of the regulatory framework and a proactive, supportive, inclusive leadership style.
* Confidence managing multiple services and budgets.
* Proven ability to motivate and inspire teams through change and growth.
* Demonstrated alignment with Mencap’s values – passionate, inclusive, brave, positive, kind.
* Strong understanding of the rights of people with a learning disability.
