We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Support Assistant to join our Gas Quality & Metering (Network Asset E&I) team.
In this role, you will provide essential administrative and process support for gas quality and metering functions during a period of significant growth and increasing complexity. The position will provide essential administrative and process support to our Gas Quality and Metering Engineers, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and enabling engineers to focus on critical technical challenges.
You’ll be supporting SGN’s compliance with the Gas Safety (Management) Regulations (GSMR), the Uniform Network Code (UNC), and Ofgem requirements for Offtakes, Biomethane Facilities and Gas Entry Points.
We deliver safety, warmth, and comfort to homes and businesses. Every role, whether in the office or on the front line, plays a key part in this mission. Here’s how you will contribute…
1. Monitor and track daily file transfers and settlements of energy flow records.
2. Maintain SGN’s High Pressure Metering Information System (HPMIS).
3. Manage Ofgem compliance issues across Offtakes and Gas Entry Points in Southern England and Scotland.
4. Provide administrative support for new and existing gas entry connections, including Biomethane partners.
5. Support engineers with tasks linked to condition monitoring services, compliance processes, and reporting.
6. Produce monthly reports and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs).
What you will need
You will be self-motivated, organised, and proactive, with excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
7. Working with technical teams in an administrative, support, or compliance role.
8. Using data systems to monitor, track and report on business-critical information.
9. Managing multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.
10. Building relationships across departments and supporting engineers with technical and non-technical tasks.
11. Awareness or knowledge of fiscal metering, gas quality monitoring, flow metering systems and calibration would be an advantage but is not essential.
12. Previous experience in operations support or regulatory compliance will be beneficial.
Not sure you meet every requirement?
Research shows some people – particularly women and those from underrepresented backgrounds – may hesitate to apply unless they meet every criteria. At SGN, we value diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
If this role interests you but you’re not sure you tick every box, we’d still love to hear from you. You might be just who we’re looking for – now or in the future.
