Chatsworth is an internationally renowned heritage and cultural attraction that attracts over half a million visitors a year to the House, Garden, and Farmyard managed by Chatsworth House Trust, and over a million visitors to the wider estate. Volunteers are crucial to the work carried out in all areas of the Charity. Friends Membership supports the work of the Trust by funding activities and acting as advocates. Your role will involve supporting existing members and recruiting new members by providing information and encouraging visitors to join the membership scheme.
As a Friends Membership Volunteer, you will:
* Work outside as part of the membership team, engaging with current, new, and prospective members.
* Answer questions about Chatsworth and Friends membership.
* Encourage visitors to consider membership to develop a closer connection with Chatsworth.
* Set up and maintain the Membership Sales tent with leaflets and promotional materials.
* Attend relevant training sessions provided by the Charity.
Time Commitment and Location
This is a fixed-term project lasting until the end of August. The suggested commitment is at least one day per week, from 10 am to 3 pm, with flexibility. The role involves working at various locations around the main attractions and supporting the membership stand at the Chatsworth Country Fair at the end of August.
About You
You should be interested in Chatsworth, its conservation, and its community, with an understanding of the Charity's work and the importance of generating funding through membership sales. You should enjoy working as part of a team, be warm, friendly, outgoing, and capable of connecting with people.
In Return
Volunteers will receive travel expenses up to £10 per day (45p per mile), an Estate Pass with discounts in shops and cafes, regular 30% discount days, uniform, free entry for you and up to three guests to the House, Gardens, and events, access to newsletters and training, and recognition events. Volunteering offers a friendly, supportive environment to meet new friends, enhance your CV, and support your wellbeing.
