We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with an Electrical Design Engineer based at Severn Trent with hybrid working available.
Role Overview
You will report directly to the Principal Engineer and your role will be to provide high-quality Engineering Design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will coordinate the design process and produce design documents and drawings, considering health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards related to the contract.
Key Responsibilities
1. Produce cost-effective design layouts that meet specifications and are feasible for construction and commissioning. Consider all costs including design, materials, erection, and potential impacts on other disciplines.
2. Utilize standard practices wherever possible, maintain competitiveness, and provide estimates and feedback to the Proposals department.
3. Develop, monitor, and improve procedures and processes to support departmental development.
4. Coordinate designs with all disciplines internally and externally to ensure integrated project delivery.
5. Maintain comprehensive files and records throughout project durations.
6. Ensure customer satisfaction by aligning with a culture that values client benefits and internal stakeholder needs.
7. Maintain a personal development plan and assist in supervising and developing staff.
8. Promote a safe working environment and minimize waste in departmental activities.
9. Ensure designs account for environmental and health and safety considerations.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
* Degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
* Understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
* Experience in managing/mentoring staff in water and sewage treatment plant design.
* Membership of a professional institution, chartered or nearing chartership.
* Ability to rationalize designs and produce economical plant layouts.
* Good knowledge of water treatment aspects, including mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management.
* Flexible mindset capable of handling large data sets.
* Strong communication skills for technical proposal presentation.
* Computer literacy and a valid driving license.
Desirable:
* Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
* Relevant Master's Degree in Engineering.
