The Broadcast & Production Engineer will oversee the technical delivery of all Broadcast elements of The Championships run by Wimbledon Broadcast Services (WBS), as well as year-round broadcast infrastructure. Fully embedded inhouse at the AELTC, and part of the wider Marketing & Commercial division, WBS sets itself as world leading in host broadcast production.
The successful applicant will explore and interrogate the technical landscape to identify best working practices with the aim of efficiently utilising the Broadcast Centre for all operations, both for the AELTC’s rights holders and WBS production.
What you will be doing
* Proactively communicate latest technologies and industry trends to inform and steer the organisation on live broadcasting developments.
* Oversee an evolving broadcast infrastructure, considering aesthetic aspects like Wire-Cam & live drone operations, and manage the Media Theatre AV in collaboration with technology teams.
* Work with the Broadcast Manager to procure and manage over 45 host broadcast suppliers, ensuring timely delivery, value, and compliance with policies such as health & safety, sustainability, and innovation.
* Apply risk management to delivery timelines during rig and de-rig, evaluating broadcast priorities and dependencies with other departments.
* Serve as the main contact for TV Broadcast partners, coordinating with rights holders on technical delivery and safety requests.
* Communicate requirements to technical providers and internal stakeholders, including communications and internet facilities for bookings.
* Plan for the future of broadcast operations, including the use of technical spaces and expansion following the golf course acquisition.
* Advise other departments on broadcast or technical matters and represent the club at industry events.
What part your role will play in The Championships
* Coordinate with WBS suppliers for year-round planning and broadcast requirements.
* Manage the setup and teardown of broadcast overlays and liaise with venue operations using project management tools.
* Oversee international distribution of televised courts via satellite, fibre & IP.
* Handle troubleshooting during the event, supporting over 2,500 broadcast personnel.

* Extensive experience leading technical broadcast teams at major sporting or similar events.
* Effective stakeholder management skills.
* Strong contacts within the industry and with suppliers.
