Job Description
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and friendly Garden Centre Restaurant Chef to work in the restaurant department at the home of the world famous Peter Beales Roses.
Our Garden Centre at Attleborough, Norfolk, is renowned for its quality range of plants including the UK's largest selection of roses in a garden centre. We have been breeding some of the most exquisite varieties in Norfolk for over 50 years. We have 30 prestigious RHS Chelsea Gold Medals and numerous other awards.
We are looking for a passionate and reliable Chef to join our friendly, growing team within our busy Garden Centre Restaurant. This role involves producing wholesome, freshly prepared dishes using local ingredients wherever possible, and contributing to a warm, welcoming dining experience for our customers.
What We're Looking For
We want someone who takes real pride in their craft — a chef who can create simple, honest, and flavoursome dishes that are executed consistently well, even during busy service. You should have a solid understanding of flavour balance, presentation, and portion control, and be able to maintain high standards day after day.
You'll be working within a small, supportive team, and will play a key part in shaping our daily menu offer, contributing ideas, and helping us maintain the quality we're known for.
Role Overview
· Preparing and cooking a range of dishes from scratch using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
· Delivering simple but delicious meals with consistent quality and strong attention to detail.
· Supporting menu planning and contributing ideas for daily specials or seasonal updates.
· Ensuring all food is presented attractively and served to a consistently high standard.
· Maintaining excellent hygiene practices and following all food safety procedures.
· Working calmly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, particularly during peak service times.
· Providing support to the Manager and fellow chefs across all aspects of kitchen operation.
What You'll Need
· At least 2 years' experience in a Chef role or similar kitchen position.
· A valid Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
· A positive, proactive, "can-do" attitude and a genuine passion for producing good food.
· The ability to work under pressure while staying calm, polite, and professional.
· A team-focused approach, with confidence to work independently when required.
· Full flexibility to cover shifts as needed.
What We Offer
· Sociable working hours compared to typical hospitality roles.
· The chance to be part of a friendly, supportive, and expanding team.
· A stable, full-time, permanent position with opportunities to grow your skills.
· A creative environment where your input and ideas are welcome.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves cooking simple, flavoursome, well-executed dishes and wants to work in a positive, people-focused setting.
