Role Purpose To provide technical and practical support to Site Operations in relation to the Tooling Life Cycle from Design Conception to Decommission/Disposal and reactive support to Production requirements. All other aspects of the role will be fulfilled through an individual Development and Training Plan. The maintenance, development and operation of Laser Checking Equipment. The provision of clear, concise and consistent tool manufacturing and technical instructions that allows tools to be made to production requirements. The basic understanding of CAD data to support Jig / Tool / Component activities as required. The Definition and communication of Tooling related procedures and work instructions. The continuous review of methods in which existing equipment is used with a view to ongoing improvement. To support new equipment justifications/commissions. The Certification of Jigs / Tools to an agreed / approved standard. The Recertification of Jigs / Tools to an agreed / approved standard. The Modification of Jigs / Tools to an agreed / approved standard. The Repair of Jigs / Tools to an agreed/approved standard. The administrative activities to support the above (e.g. Cycle Check Database, Job Card Printing, Design Office Instructions, Closure of Tool Requests). The Measurement and / or Repair of Aircraft Components. The Manual Tasks required supporting the above, including the operation of machinery where applicable. The Modification of Production Components to support Production requirements, including the operation of machinery where applicable. The use of lifting/moving equipment to support all Tooling Activities (e.g. Yale, Master Movers, Forklift). Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Experience The job holder requires to be well versed in typical Engineering processes/practices and preferably completed a Technical Craft apprenticeship within a relevant engineering discipline, in addition to experience in applying tools and techniques (for example the use of software packages or mainframe systems). Main areas of knowledge required to perform this job is in Tool Assembly, Tool Checking, Customer support, Design Engineering, IT/Computing, Site Services, Systems and Airframe Engineering and Manual Machining. Will have good oral and written communication skills, possess the ability to work well within a team and be creative and innovative when solving problems. Will be suitably flexible to support offsite and/or out of hours working as required. Appreciation and Understanding of visible control and business support systems in order to demonstrate effective management and control of activities.
