Job Title – InterimAccountant (3 to 4 month Fixed-term Contract)

Reports to – AssistantFinance Manager
Pay – £30,000 pro rata
Hours – Part-time, 3-days a week. 8.30am to 5.00pm
The Dash Group is a leading logistics provider in the South-West, committed to delivering exceptional service and operational excellence. We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join us on a short-term fixed‑term basis to support the finance team during a peak operational period.
This role is ideal for someone who can quickly get up to speed, work independently, and deliver high‑quality financial outputs with accuracy and confidence. You will play a key role in maintaining smooth financial operations, supporting period‑end processes, improving reporting accuracy, and ensuring robust financial controls.
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month-End Support
* Assist with period -end processes including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
* Prepare timely and accurate management information to support decision‑making.
* Support the production of P&Ls for multiple departments.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
* Support the escalations, queries, and process improvements.
* Perform supplier statement reconciliations and resolve outstanding items.
* Assist with credit control tasks where required.
Banking & Cashflow
* Complete daily bank reconciliations.
* Ensure compliance with internal controls.
Financial Controls & Compliance
* Ensure financial processes are followed consistently across the Group.
* Maintain accurate documentation and audit-ready records.
* Support internal and external audit activities where required.
Operational & Cross-Departmental Support
* Work closely with operational teams (e.g., Fleet, Logistics, DWN) to validate costs, investigate variances, and answer finance-related queries.
* Provide cost analysis, spend tracking, and support with budgeting as required.
* Assist with system improvements and process streamlining within the Finance function.
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience in an accounting roles.
* Strong understanding of core accounting principles (accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, journals).
* Confident using accounting software and Excel (lookups, pivot tables, reconciliations).
* High attention to detail with a proactive, organised approach.
* Ability to work independently and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to support both finance and non-finance colleagues.
* AAT, ACCA or CIMA qualifications to be considered.
