We are looking to recruit flexible and adaptable library assistants to support various contracts on a short-term basis as and when required.
The Role
Based at HMP Stocken, our Library Assistants are responsible for carrying out routine library duties such as lending, shelving, developing displays, and supporting customers with diverse library and information requirements under the direction of our Library Manager.
The role provides a support service to customers to assist with their reading choices and online services. It is responsible for handling queries, signposting appropriately, and providing guidance and direction to enable customers to locate the required information. The role also involves contributing to outreach library services, events, and programmes.
What are we looking for?
You should have an interest and awareness of current publishing trends, reader recommendations, and titles for a variety of ability levels, as well as an understanding of customer service principles and practices. Experience of working within a custodial environment and creating learning resources is desirable.
